You can arrive to Siargao by boat or by plane. By boat, you will first have to find your way to Surigao, which is located in the province of Surigao del Norte. There are normally 3 boats per day running to Dapa, check out Surigaoislands.com for the schedule. Depending on which boat you take expect a 2 – 3 ½ hour ride. Tickets range from 220 PHP – 300 PHP (US $4.35 – $6)
To arrive by plane you can take a 45 min direct flight from Cebu to Siargao. There are two flights from Cebu offered daily. Info can be found at Cebupacificair.com. Direct flights from Manila are a new addition in 2017. Check out flyskyjet.com to see their schedule and prices.
Once you’ve arrived on the island you will most likely be making your way to General Luna, or GL as everyone says here. From Dapa you can hire a tricycle for around 300 – 350 PHP (US $ 6 – $7) or you can get a habal habal (motorbike taxi) for 150-200 PHP (US $3 – $4). The ride will take 30 minutes. From the airport your best option is to inform your hotel and they will set up a taxi van to pick you up for 300 PHP per person.
Once in GL the best option is to rent a motorbike. Your resort should be able to set this up for you or you can venture out on your own and ask around for a local motorbike rental shop. Expect to pay 400 PHP per day, if you will stay long term always ask for a discount. If you choose to not rent a motorbike you can walk most places in a short amount of time, or take a habal habal for 20-35 PHP (US 40 cents – 70 cents) per ride in the GL area.
